First ​Real Post-Jam Update


Been working on sprucing things up for an upcoming event. A lot of cleaning up rushed code and future-proofing mechanics and functions.

Here's a list of changes:

  • Updated the score tally at the end of a run to factor in distance traveled. This is meant to reward players for getting further in the level, and incentivize progression over collection, without completely invalidating the playstyles of those who like Collecting The Shinies.
  • Added sound effects to all player abilities. Just makes things feel better.
  • Added descriptions to the Upgrade Menu. Helps better explain what you're investing your points in.
  • Updated the character sprites. She also has a name now, Fuchsia!
  • Added a Pause Menu. Now you can pause and end a run, check your stats, read up on your abilities, or go back to the Title Screen!
  • Added a Title Screen. Probably should've mentioned this before the pause menu but oh well
  • Saving and Loading. The game now saves your progress, allowing you to pick up when you left off after closing the game!
  • Bonus Time. Now, instead of being able to move during the score tally, you're given 5 seconds at the end of a run to collect as many Charms left on screen as you can. There's even a frantic little jingle that plays too!
